Hello, I'm Prajakta, originally from Mumbai and now living in Bangalore! I studied to become a Chartered Accountant and was happily working in a corporate job, but life surprised me with unexpected twists. Despite being diagnosed with PCOD, I managed to conceive, but my pregnancy was tough—lots of bed rest and time in hospitals, especially with my mom battling cancer at the same time. After giving birth, I faced postpartum depression. With my husband's support, I found the courage to start going to the gym, and that's where everything changed. I met a Pilates coach, and Pilates made a huge positive difference in my life! I got healthier, stronger, and my whole life transformed for the better. Without hesitation, I decided to become a certified Pilates teacher from the Michael King Pilates Institute in 2011. I also took up Yoga teacher training and became a licensed HIIT trainer and Functional training expert!
Pilates is a fantastic exercise for women with a bunch of benefits! It helps make your tummy and core super strong, improves how flexible you are, and makes you stand up straighter. Plus, it works out all your muscles, giving you a toned and fit body. Pilates also helps you feel more connected to your body, making you less stressed and more clear-headed. It's a gentle exercise that's easy on your body, preventing injuries. For pregnant women, Pilates is great for keeping your core stable, supporting your back, and making you feel more comfortable. After having a baby, Pilates is excellent for getting back into exercise gently, especially focusing on your tummy muscles. It also helps to manage PCOD, helping with weight and overall well-being.

Many people also find that Pilates contributes to reduced stress and improved mental clarity.
For most Pilates classes, you don't need special equipment beyond a mat, which is often provided at studios. However, comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows for a full range of motion is recommended. If you're attending a class that uses specialized equipment like reformers, the studio will typically provide the necessary equipment, but you might want to bring a towel and a water bottle.
For noticeable improvements, it's generally recommended to practice Pilates 2-3 times per week. Consistency is key, as regular practice helps build and maintain strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Even if you have a busy schedule, incorporating Pilates into your routine a few times a week can make a significant difference in your overall well-being.
